THE SUN IS LIGHTER ON THE HORIZON
two-channel film installation
2019; 3 min loop; 16mm film
A simple idea is posed to the viewer - to imagine the sun as an object placed in an impossible relationship with itself. This installation sets up a playful analog/mechanical visual device to conjure up our unreliable relationship to the visible world. Two projected images, connecting through a physical object, ask the viewer to observe the installation as a sculpture. The balance held by the two screens and the mechanical apparatus that projects them, is delicate. It reflects a fragility set in motion by our precarious attempts at controlling nature’s processes.
